Twitteratti goes in a frenzy as Shikhar Dhawan brings up another ton in CT

In the eighth match of the ongoing Champions Trophy, India locked horns with Sri Lankans in an all-Asian encounter and it was Shikhar Dhawan who stole the show at the Oval, London. Dhawan brought up his 10th ton in One-day International and his third one in the tournament history, as his love affair with the Champions Trophy continued.

Shikhar Dhawan selection into the Champions Trophy was questioned by many as he was out of Indian side for quite a while. Gautam Gambhir’s form was the most talked about in the IPL and the chants of bringing back him back into the squad for the Champions Trophy, in place of the injured KL Rahul.

However, with the two innings he played in the Champions Trophy this year, he put to rest all the criticism behind his selection in the tournament. He followed up his quick-fire knock 68 off just 65 balls against Pakistan with a brilliant 125 off 128 against the Sri Lankans today. He smashed as many as 15 boundaries and a maximum in the process.

He continued his love affair with the Champions Trophy after scoring those dominating hundreds four years back. Together with Rohit Sharma, he stitched a vital partnership yet again to set the platform for the Indians side. Together with MS Dhoni, he put his side in a dominating position. Dhoni served the finishing touch to put the Indian total over 300.

Dhoni scored a rapid knock of 63 of 52 balls and Kedar Jadhav scored an important 25 of 13 balls to take the side over 320. Sri Lankans face a monumental target in front of them in order to stay alive in the tournament whereas the Indians have to just restrict their opponents to a score below 321 to be the second team to qualify for the semi-finals. All in all, it was a good day to be an Indian Cricket fan.
