Veteran Windies cricketer Dwayne Bravo is surely one of the finest players in the history of Twenty20 cricket. He holds the record of scalping the most number of wickets (413) in the shortest version of the game and is a brilliant all-round player who adds to the intensity of his respective team in all the three major departments of the sport.
Bravo was retained by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by using their second Right to Match (RTM) card at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auction event. The Caribbean star would be seen in action in the opening game of the season against the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7.
Both MI and CSK are two of the most successful franchises in the IPL history: Bravo
Bravo has already joined his teammates in the various training camps to prepare well for the upcoming edition of the IPL. During his recent conversation, the Windies all-rounder mentioned that both his CSK and Mumbai are two of the most successful franchises in the ten years history of the IPL. He also revealed that there couldn’t be a bigger opening encounter for the biggest tournament at far than this upcoming fixture between MI and CSK, next month.
“It’s really the El Clasico, two of the biggest franchises in IPL history… two of the most successful franchises. I’m looking forward to it… everyone’s looking forward to it. I don’t think there can be a bigger tournament opener that this one. These kinds of games, they really get me going,” said Bravo as quoted by the official website of Chennai Super Kings.
Very important to have a good start in a big tournament
The pacer revealed that it becomes essential to start a big tournament like the IPL with a winning momentum. CSK would be returning to the most established Twenty20 competition after a gap of 2 years. Thus, they would be hoping for that energetic and impulsive momentum right from the first game of the upcoming edition of the IPL.
“The start (to a season) is very important, especially in a tournament like the IPL where all the teams are very, very good. It’s a tournament where anything is possible and so you want to start well. It gives you that momentum. It can get a little difficult for teams to recover later on in the tournament,” further added the Windies all-rounder.
