Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar is arguably one of the best fast bowlers the world has ever seen and he still holds the record for the fastest delivery in international cricket as he touched 161.3 kmph. More than the pace, the impact he had on the batters was unforgettable, and bowled some serious spells that used to give nightmares to the batters. Along with a strongly built physique, Akhtar had a deadly run-up and most batters would definitely have feared him on the crease.

The official handle of cricket.com.au shared a video of Akhtar bowling a deadly bouncer to Shane Watson in the latter’s younger days and Watson tweeted back “What a way to spend my 21st birthday!!@shoaib100mph was so good and so bloody fast.” AB de Villiers responded to this tweet of Watson stating “Oh man! I still get nightmares.”

Akhtar then joined the conversation with De Villiers, sharing about the sleepless nights that the SA batter had given to a lot of bowlers in his playing days and added how he enjoyed interacting with the South African legend. De Villiers then responded to Akthar’s tweet, reminding him of the Supersport Park game when the Pakistan pacer had almost broken the leg of the former Proteas skipper. He also added a funny note by mentioning how it was a big mistake trying to play the pull shot against the Rawalpindi quick.

“Haha. Good old days! U almost broke my leg at Supersport Park in my early twenties after I decided to pull u for 6. The minute it hit my bat I knew it was a big mistake,” De Villiers tweeted.

Not every pull went for a 6 though: Shoaib Akhtar’s epic reply

Responding to De Villiers’ tweet, Akhtar shared a video from the game between Pakistan and South Africa where the South African edged one onto the stumps trying to pull the latter.

“Not every pull went for a 6 though. Hahaha,” tweeted Akhtar.

Both cricketers have played an immense part for their countries in international cricket for a long time and are definitely an inspiration for the young budding cricketers as well.
