The Australian Cricket Team is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play two Tests and three T20Is against Pakistan. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) today announced that Australia will play a T20I against the UAE national team on October 22nd at the Abu Dhabi Zayed Cricket Stadium (Oval 1). It is a day fixture and starts at 14:00 local time. The entry to the stadium for the match will be free for all the spectators.

Australia will conclude the Test series on October 20 and the three-match T20I series gets underway on Wednesday, October 24 at the same venue in Abu Dhabi. Earlier this year the International Cricket Council (ICC) awarded T20 International status to all the Affiliate and Associate nations. Thus the two boards have decided to make most of this and cramp in a game amidst the ongoing tour.

Zayed Abbas, Emirates Cricket Board Spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be in a position to announce this fixture and we are extremely grateful to the ICC for their support in accrediting the Abu Dhabi Oval for T20 International cricket at such short notice.

Our thanks also goes out to Cricket Australia for approaching this opportunity so positively, and especially to the Pakistan Cricket Board for permitting this match during their home tour in the UAE with Australia. It has been an incredible effort from all parties to bring this match to fruition,” he was quoted as saying by emiratescricket.com.

Waleed Bukhatir, chief selector of the UAE team stated: “This match will provide an exceptionally good test for our players. We need them to be put under pressure and for them to focus more intently by being challenged by higher ranked, leading teams within our game. To do so it is vitally important for the Full member countries, and the ICC to support and provide the Associates with such opportunities. We are extremely thankful to the ICC, Cricket Australia and the Pakistan Cricket Board for supporting this match.”
