A world-class bowling effort from the UAE Women saw Hong Kong women suffering yet another defeat in the fourth T20I at the Malek Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Hong Kong had earlier won the toss and elected to bat first with the hope of changing the fortunes. Kary Chan and Natasha Miles walked out to bat and they yet again lost an early wicket with Chan getting dismissed in just the third over. Miles and Shanzeen Shahzad could manage just 11 each and Hong Kong were in sort of disarray.

Mariko Hill tried to get back things in place with a 14-ball 15 that included two fours but it was curtains for Hong Kong once she perished. Vaishnave Mahesh ran through the lower order alongside skipper Chaya Mughal while Siya Gokhale’s three-wicket haul meant that Hong Kong was bundled up for just 62 in 18.4 overs despite the nine extras as well.

Esha Oza sees her side through with an unbeaten knock

The total never looked daunting enough for the UAE side who had been piling up runs so far in the series and Hong Kong needed an inspired bowling performance to make a match out of their total. UAE had different plans as their openers Esha Oza and Kavisha Egodage went after the Hong kong bowlers straightaway.

Kavisha Egodage could not repeat her heroics again as she fell after a well-made 16 off 16 deliveries that included two fours. Oza continued her assault on the bowlers with an unbeaten 28 off 24 balls while Theerthaa Satish who came in at three scored an 11-ball 12 to chase down the score in just 8.3 overs. Mariko Hill was the only bowler for Hong Kong to be among the wickets column.

Gokhale picked up the player of the match award for her outstanding spell and the host nation completed a whitewash against Hong Kong in the four-match T20I series. Hill was one of the positives from the series for Hong Kong with bat and ball while Yasmin Daswani has also shown glimpses of her ability to play quickfire innings.
