Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has had some troubling months lately. He was suspended by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with allegations of the spot-fixing scandal. After being quiet initially, the Pakistan batsman has finally revealed that he thinks that it is a conspiracy has been made against him.

According to the report published in Cricket Pakistan, Umar Akmal has denied all the charges and the claims against him. He is also very stubborn about the fact that he didn’t do anything wrong and considers the entire case to be a conspiracy just to get him trapped. He denied all the claims of spot-fixing and also denied being involved in such activities when he was questioned by the Anti-corruption Unit (ACU) officials.

Umar Akmal says that the spot-fixing charges are a conspiracy against him

ACU officials had previously said that they have quite solid evidence to support their claim against the batsman. They had stated that they have evidence that included phone calls and other proofs. However, ACU officials didn’t present any of the evidence during the investigation as the report did not include the phone call recordings.

The PCB had charged Akmal with two breaches of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code in two unrelated incidents. Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code reads as: “Failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code”

After being asked if he had met any suspicious individuals, Akmal revealed that he interacts with a lot of people as he goes to a lot of parties. He also added that he likes going for parties where he could have met some individuals who were involved in such activities. He also said that people take a lot of pictures with him but he doesn’t know them personally.

On further investigation, Akmal also revealed that he had met one of them due to some personal reasons. He also gave the details about the meeting to the investigation officer.

The batsman was suspended by the PCB right before the Pakistan Super League and had to miss the tournament.
