Umran Malik gets emotional as family sends him a special message post IPL debut

In a country like India, where cricket rules the imagination of fans, every other family wishes that their child gets to play at the greatest level and arm their talent better. Once the opportunity comes their way, no doubt it is a moment to savor not just for the player but for the family as well. Such has been the extraordinary journey of SRH’s pacer Umran Malik.

Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, the 21-year-old speedster has walked a long path to make it to the IPL. He made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kolkata Knight Riders and fetched everybody’s attention with his pace and the way he troubled KKR’s batters. He clocked 151.03 kmph against KKR which was the fastest delivery by an Indian bowler in IPL 2021.

Umran Malik’s family sends an emotional message for the pacer

Malik’s family sent him a special message to express their happiness on seeing him make his IPL debut. They came forward to tell how proud they were of the speedster for having faced all the odds and for making it to one of the most celebrated T20 leagues of the world. Watching the video, the pacer got all emotional.

Sunrisers Hyderabad took it their official Instagram account to share the video of the same. They captioned the post as: “When you make it to one of the biggest stages in Cricket, your family can be nothing but proud.” The video attracted a lot of comments from the onlookers.

The England batter Jonny Bairstow who isn’t playing in the second half of the tournament also left a comment on the post. “This is what it’s all about! huge congratulations,” he wrote. The former SRH skipper David warner also expressed his thoughts. “So beautiful this awesome to see,” Warner wrote.

Umran Malik made his T20 debut for Jammu and Kashmir in January. Soon, the very next month he played his first List A match. He began his stint with SRH as a net bowler initially but later was included in the squad as SRH’s key bowler T Natarajan tested COVID-19 positive. On his debut, though Malik went wicketless, he bowled an impressive spell wherein he conceded just 27 runs.
