Umran Malik produced a master class of pace bowling in the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans and the Indian cricket fans could not hold their excitement over the speedster and even former finance minister P Chidambaram took a note of the youngster. The 22-year-old picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in IPL and finished with figures of 5 for 25 in his 4 overs in a relatively high-scoring game.

Malik came into the attack after the powerplay and he straightaway got rid of Shubman Gill with a peach of a delivery. He hit Hardik Pandya on the shoulders on the very first ball he faced and picked him up with a bouncer in his next over with a brilliant field set as well.

When Gujarat looked like running away from the game, there was Malik in front of them with his raw pace and he picked up all the next three wickets of Wriddhiman Saha, David Miller, and Abhinav Manohar in a quick time to change the momentum towards his side. However, despite Malik’s brilliance with the ball, Gujarat Titans found a way in the final overs to keep hitting the boundaries and a phenomenal finish from Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia brought yet another victory for the Hardik Pandya-led side.

BCCI should give Umran Malik an exclusive coach: P Chidambaram

Coming back to Chidambaram’s tweet, the senior Congress leader felt that Malik was unstoppable with his pace and marked him as the find of the IPL this season. He suggested BCCI provide him with a special coach to look after the youngster and take him to the Indian side.

“The Umran Malik hurricane is blowing away everything in its way. The sheer pace and aggression is a sight to behold. After today’s performance there can be no doubt that he is the find of this edition of IPL,” he tweeted.

“The BCCI should give him an exclusive coach and quickly induct him into the national team,” he added.
