The doubleheader day in the Indian Premier League saw two nail-biting finishes as both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians lost the game in the final over of the match. While the Sunrisers failed to chase down the target, Mumbai Indians could not defend the total. The first game of the day was the encounter between table topper Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

IPL has been enjoying a great fan following around the world, however, the umpiring standards in the league have been under the pump for a while. On Sunday, when leg-umpire Vineet Kulkarni missed out on a certain no-ball decision, the social media got abuzz with fans showing their anger on the decision.

Hyderabad lost the match by just 4 runs and one would think had the umpires made a right call, that one extra ball could’ve helped them reach the target. It was 16th over bowled by Shardul Thakur whose 4th ball of the over was above the waist height but umpires failed to call it a no-ball. SRH skipper had shown his displeasure towards the decision.

SRH management meets match referee

As per the source, the SRH team management met the match referee and registered their complaint regarding the leg-umpires mistake of missing the no-ball call. Kane Williamson who did not make a fuss about the no-ball when he was in the middle, the batsman in his report talked about the incident in his report.

“Even the SRH players were quite disturbed about the fact that the umpire missed out on a genuine no-ball. There is no denying the fact that errors happen, but when there is technology available, the umpires should take help in case of doubt. This is happening too often in IPL,” the source was quoted as saying by TOI. “If such an error goes unnoticed, it has to be mentioned by someone,” the source said.
