Preview:

United States of America’s disappointment of not making it to the T20 World Cup Qualifier could be healed quickly when they host Papua New Guinea on Friday. The game will be marked to be their first-ever ODI match at home for the USA team who played only three ODIs till date without a win. They made their ODI debut back in 2004 during the Champions trophy while the 3rd one was against PNG during the 3rd place playoff of Division Two this year.

Florida’s Lauderhill will host the first match of this Tri-Nation ODI series which involves Namibia as the 3rd team. This tournament will go down into the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two played between 2019 and 2022 involving seven teams. Scotland, P.N.G and Oman were part of the first Tri-series played in August. The hosts Scotland won that series while PNG lost all four games in that tournament.

Weather Condition/Report:

The historic game of USA might be affected due to weather as the forecast suggests Thunderstorm for Friday. Since the match starts at 9:45 AM, there are chances of having a result through a reduced match. The rain is forecasted for the afternoon and the ground facility isn’t that great for longer spell of rain.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Florida’s Lauderhill will host its first List A match on Friday. The venue was famous for the high-scoring match in 2016 between India and West Indies but the T20Is between the two sides this year were totally opposite. The venue was a two paced one which could have been due to the moisture in a fresh pitch. A similar track could be seen on Friday with the spinners and slow bowlers dominating the wickets column.

These two players have scored a List A hundred for the USA which has been achieved by two others only.

Watch out for Rusty Theron who has 162 wickets in only 97 List A matches and averages 18.59 with the bat. He has a bowling strike rate of 26.9 which is among the best in List A history. Expert Advice:

Selecting players from all-rounders category will be a challenge with only four can be picked among as many as six deserving candidates. Assad Vala, Rusty Theron, Steven Taylor, Timil Patel, Charles Amini and Chad Soper are those six players.

The PNG skipper Assad’s numbers are quite brilliant with both bat and ball. Theron too has amazing numbers in the List A cricket while Timil’s bowling was the only positive for the USA during the recent T20 CWC Americas Qualifier tournament. Taylor’s numbers suggest he is inconsistent in 50-overs format compared to T20s. PNG’s Amini and Soper score 20-30 runs every game and take 1-2 wickets.

Probable Winners:

USA could earn as an edge over PNG due to the home advantage.
