Young Indian cricketer Unmukt Chand has had a roller coaster ride in his cricket career thus far. Chand, who was once tipped to be the next big thing in the Indian cricket, has lost his plot somewhere in the recent years. He went unsold at the IPL Auctions this year. Interestingly, he did not find a taker in the previous edition of the IPL as well.

With no IPL team needing his services for the upcoming edition, Unmukt Chand has decided to play Division cricket in Delhi. As per the reports in the Indian Express, Chand confirmed his participation in Senior’s Division cricket.

The ride for Unmukt Chand in his cricket career has seen a lot of highs and lows. He had successfully led the Indian team in the ICC U19 World Cup 2012. His century in the finals against the Australia U19 had helped India clinch the title after four years. Since then, he was touted as the next leader of the Indian team and a batting mainstay too.

However, his form saw a slump and he failed to keep up with the pace of the other youngsters in the wings. He lost his place in the India A side as well. Furthermore, he was dropped from the Delhi team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016-17 edition.

Comeback in this season

He, however, made a good comeback to the side for the 2017-18 season. But he ended up fracturing his jaw after being hit by a ball in a practice session before the match. He did not let this jeopardize his chances of playing in the tournament though. He decided to play the match for Delhi and delayed his jaw surgery.

Delhi is yet to qualify for the next round of the tournament this year. If Delhi qualifies, Chand will get a few more games to play in the season. But in case they fail to do so, that would sum up Chand’s domestic season of 2017-18.
