After the success of the first season of the USA-based Minor League Cricket MiLC, the second edition of the tournament will be played from June 25. The 27-team tournament will be played over a span of two months with the finals scheduled for August 27-28.

The American Twenty20 cricket tournament was originally scheduled to be played in mid-to-late 2020, but had to be delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that had brought all the sporting activities to a standstill. The Silicon Valley Strikers are the defending champions, having beaten the New Jersey Stallions by six wickets to win the inaugural edition of the competition.

Here’s all you need to know about the second edition of the MiLC

The second edition of the Minor League Cricket (MiLC) will see some renowned international cricketing superstars including the likes of Liam Plunkett, Corey Anderson, Asad Shafiq, Hussain Talat, Sami Aslam and Rahkeem Cornwall and other seasoned campaigners.

According to reports on Cricbuzz, “more than 80 first class cricketers from India, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, along with a myriad of talented local players will lock horns in the premier domestic tournament of America.”

The objective of the MiLC is to serve as a platform for the cricketing talents to pave into the USA national cricket team. At the same time, it is to be noted that the Silicon Valley Strikers, who were crowned the inaugural edition champions last year, were led by one of India’s most promising batters Unmukt Chand who had captained India to an U19 World Cup triumph in the year 2012.

“You want to win the championship, hopefully we can repeat the feat again. We expect the coming season to be more intense with a rise in playing standards of the local talent and influx of foreign talent as well. We believe we have a good core. We are definitely looking forward to it,” Chand was quoted by Cricbuzz.
