Delhi and Jharkhand played out a humdinger of a game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The place in the final was at stake and both the teams gave their 100 percent which made the match interesting. Delhi were down and out at 152/8 at one stage but Pawan Negi didn’t give up. He played a brilliant knock in the chase and took his team over the line in the last over. However, Harbhajan Singh feels that MS Dhoni’s presence could’ve changed the things for Jharkhand.
After being invited to bat first, Jharkhand batsmen played some really poor shots. Their top-order was blown away thanks to Navdeep Saini’s accurate bowling. Virat Singh’s sensational knock of 71 runs kept them in the game as they went on to post 199 runs on the board which looked under-par at that stage.
However, there was a twist in the tale. Delhi, in the chase, kept on losing the wickets at the regular intervals and at one stage, it looked like they will lose by a significant margin. Jharkhand kept the pressure on them right through the innings but failed to cross the final hurdle eventually.
Harbhajan Singh was following the game closely it seems as he congratulated Gautam Gambhir and the team for reaching the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. But he felt bad for Jharkhand who made a meal out of the low total and made Delhi earn every run in the second innings. However, he also pointed out that they missed MS Dhoni in the game and his calmness could’ve proved crucial in such an encounter for them.
Congrats captain @GautamGambhir and Team Delhi for reaching #VijayHazare finals. Well done #pawanNegi But who knows @msdhoni presence could have been the difference .Team Jharkhand must have missed him today @BCCIdomestic

There was a lot of confusion ahead of the knockouts over MS Dhoni playing for Jharkhand. But the veteran was against disturbing the team’s balance with his presence as they were unbeaten throughout the season. While the move from him was justified, there were also reports of the Jharkhand selectors expressing their disappointment over his denial to play at the eleventh hour.
