Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19: Hyderabad announce fresh squad for knockouts

Mohammad Siraj isn't a part of the squad as he is with the national team.

The 2018-19 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is currently underway and the knock phase is set to start on Sunday, October 14. Only three matches are left in the Group stage, all of which are scheduled to play on Thursday, October 11. In the meantime, Hyderabad has announced a fresh squad for the quarterfinal, semi-final and final and would be looking to win the championship.

In the group stage, they won five out of their eight matches and finished with 22 points. They lost one match. Ambati Rayudu has been appointed as the captain of the team. He recently played for India in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and notched a couple of half-centuries against Anshuman Rath’s Hong Kong and Asghar Afghan’s Afghanistan respectively.

Mohammad Siraj to misses out

Bavanaka Sandeep, who is currently their leading run-scorer with 246 runs from seven matches at an average of 61.50, remains to be their most dependable batsman. K Rohit Rayudu, P Akshath Reddy and Tanmay Agarwal, all whom have scored over 200 runs and need to deliver in the crunch matches as well. Mehdi Hasan and Chama Mind are their leading wicket-takers with 13 and 10 scalps respectively.

Mohammad Siraj isn’t a part of the squad as he is with the national team for the two-match Test series against the Windies. Hyderabad is expected to miss the services of the youngster. Ajay Dev Goud, who played in India’s One Day series against Sri Lanka U19, has also been drafted in. The likes of Kolla Sumanth also need to step and make contributions.
