Jharkhand and Maharashtra two teams full of young players and fewer big names dominated quite a few teams in the group stages of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to enter the knockouts. Jharkhand, led by Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten in the Elite C group as they won all the seven completed matches. The team was boosted by the performances of their skipper at the top of the order and Shahbaz Nadeem’s bowling efforts. U19 star all-rounder Anukul Roy was their trump card in the tournament starring in both the departments.
MS Dhoni was expected to take part in this game but withdrew himself as his inclusion could hamper the winning combination. Maharashtra, on the other hand, won six of the seven completed games in the league phase. Though there were no dominating performances from their batsmen, the bowlers stood out with consistent performances. All their bowlers were amongst wickets that was a key factor in the team’s success.

Pitch Report:
The Chinnaswamy Stadium has been at its best in this Vijay Hazare Trophy producing some high scoring games. The ground is well known for its short boundaries and batting tracks but was on the slower side in the IPL games in the last couple of seasons. In the group stage of this Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mumbai posted 350+ totals twice and teams got past 250 while batting first with ease. The first quarter-final game between Delhi and Haryana saw the ball coming on to the bat which is a positive for the batsmen.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Expert Advice:
Both the teams have bowled better than they batted in the tournament so far. However, the change in venue could see a difference in the approach and results of both these teams. As a result, extra care needs to be taken while picking bowlers who have enjoyed a lot of success during the group stage. Batsmen can be picked based on their ability rather than their recent numbers.
Probable Winners:
A young Jharkhand team is expected to defeat Maharashtra given their dominance in the tournament so far. The game could come down to a battle between Maharashtra’s bowling vs Jharkhand’s batting. The team from East Zone has a tendency to collapse.
