Match Details:

The Round 6 game of the Vijay Hazare trophy 2019 between Tamil Nadu and Bengal will be hosted by Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground, Jaipur.

The match starts at 9:00 AM local time (IST) (3:30 AM GMT).

Preview:

Two of the strongest teams in Elite Group C take centre-stage as Bengal faces a star-studded Tamil Nadu side in Jaipur. Table-toppers, Tamil Nadu’s stars have revelled this year with the Dinesh Karthik-led side finding themselves at the top of the table. With three wins out of three so far, they are firmly in the race for a knockout spot.

On the other hand, Bengal is slowly finding its feet after a false start in the first round against Gujarat. The addition of Abhimanyu Easwaran and Ishan Porel worked wonders against Jammu and Kashmir. Porel, who was part of the 2018 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup squad, picked a fifer in his return to the side.

The last time these two sides faced off against one another, Vijay Shankar and M Mohammed picked seven wickets among themselves to restrict the Bengal side to a modest total. With Washington Sundar’s impending return to the side boosting both their batting and bowling stocks, TN should fancy their chances of increasing their lead at the top of the table.

With the experience of Manoj Tiwary and Shreevats Goswami serving them well, Bengal will look to give TN a tough fight and possibly clinch the points on offer.

Weather Condition/Report:

Thunderstorms are predicted during the match which could result in a shortened game. The temperature is expected to hover around 28 and 30 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 75%, according to AccuWeather.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground has favoured strokeplay with the new ball bowlers also getting some assistance early on. Teams have preferred chasing here although 250 could be a bridge too far for the chasing side.

Average first innings score: 212 (List A matches)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 2, Lost – 2

Washington Sundar is due to return to the Tamil Nadu squad.

Top Picks:

Vijay Shankar’s first outing in this year’s competition saw him post an unbeaten 91 off just 88 balls to kill a tricky chase. Baba Aparajith has been a consistent performer for TN with good numbers in List A cricket and is a useful bowler as well. Abhimanyu Easwaran is into his first season as captain and looks to build on his recent form for the India A side.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Expert Advice:

The new ball spell has yielded a couple of wickets in every match at this venue. The likes of Vijay Shankar and Ishan Porel stand a good chance of wreaking havoc early on. Baba Aparajith has also contributed with the ball apart from batting in the top order. Considering the fact that he costs only 8.5 credits, he could be a safe punt.

Probable Winners:

Although both teams are strong on paper, Tamil Nadu’s strength in bowling standouts making them the favourites against Bengal.
