Vijay Mallya is a name that has been synonymous with controversy for the past two years. The “King of Good Times” has absconded to London to escape arrest by the Indian police. The case is regarding a non-payment of a loan worth nearly INR 9000 crores. However, that hasn’t stopped him from having ‘a good time’ pun intended.

Vijay Mallya was seen in the recent clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on Sunday. The photo showing him in the stadium has gone viral and has received numerous comments trolling him for one reason or the other. He was also spotted at the charity ball in London which Virat Kohli has thrown.

The matter at hand

The situation didn’t spiral out of control until Mallya released a tweet praising the Indian captain Virat Kohli and saying that he intends to attend all the India matches to show his support for the Men in Blue.

The tweet invited criticisms and trolls from different members of the Twitter world.

Most or all of them were in relation to him flying to London to escape arrest and his dues of INR 9000 crores. Some made fun of him in slightly subtle condescending manner while some others mocked and blasted him outrightly. Whatever the case may be, the Twitterati let their feelings be known of the presence of the beer tycoon for the matches in England. However, it is unlikely that this will stop Mallya in coming to watch the matches.

Team India will have their next league match on Thursday against neighbours Sri Lanka in a Group B match. A win here will almost certainly cement India’s berth in the semifinals along with three others. The defending champions truly lived up to their title on Sunday sailing through Pakistan defeating them by 124 runs. Now all eyes, including Vijay Mallya’s will be looking forward to Thursday when India goes against Sri Lanka.
