Virat bhai is one batsman I would like to dismiss in IPL 2022: Chetan Sakariya

India’s upcoming seamer Chetan Sakariya revealed his best moment from IPL 2021 to be picking up MS Dhoni’s wicket and is now keen to dismiss Virat Kohli. The left-arm seamer had a brilliant debut season last year and earned a call up into the Indian limited-overs side on the back of his impressive performances. The 24-year-old played one T20I and two ODIs for India in Sri Lanka and picked up three international wickets as well.

Sakariya will be plying his trade for the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL 2022 season. He had managed to dismiss legendary batter Dhoni at the Wankhede Stadium in the previous season which did turn a lot of heads. The Gujarat lad was recently part of the Saurashtra squad in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season under the leadership of Jaydev Unadkat.

Sakariya mentioned that his debut IPL game for the Rajasthan Royals was also special but went on to pick Dhoni’s wicket as the best moment from the previous edition. He nailed his yorkers and variations in the death overs for the Rajasthan Royals in the previous season and played the entire 14 games picking up 14 wickets at an economy rate of 8.19.

“Picking MS Dhoni’s wicket is definitely the best moment for me from IPL 2021. My debut game was also special but nothing like taking Dhoni bhai’s wicket. He is a legend of the game and to bowl to and dismiss a legend is always a very good feeling,” Sakariya told cricket.com.

Sakariya also revealed the experience of bowling to AB de Villiers in the nets and explained the difficulties over it. However, with De Villiers retired from professional cricket, Sakariya is looking to dismiss another high-class RCB batter, Virat Kohli in the upcoming season.

“I bowled to de Villiers in the nets as well in the match. It is very difficult to bowl to him because he plays all sorts of shots in the death overs. But now that he has retired I will not be able to get a chance to dismiss him. So Virat bhai is the one batsman I’d like to dismiss in IPL 2022,” he added.
