After the suspension of the 2021 Indian Premier League, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, has shifted his focus to helping the needy in the COVID-19 pandemic. The 32-year-old has come forward in the critical scenario along with his wife Anushka Sharma. Ever since the pandemic started wreaking havoc, the Delhi-born Virat and his spouse have been sending out messages about taking measures.

The duo has now come up with a fundraiser with a goal of accumulate INR 7 crores. They also urged the netizens to come forward and make contributions wholeheartedly. Kohli and Anushka, well and truly, understand the need of the hour in the second wave of the pandemic in India.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Anushka and I have started a campaign on @ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief, and we would be grateful for your support. Let’s all come together and help those around us in need of our support. I urge you all to join our movement,”

Recently, Kohli was also spotted with Yuva Sena member Rahul N Kanal regarding assistance for the ones in need. On Wednesday, May 5, Kanal shared a couple of pictures on his official Twitter handle.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Meeting our Captain…Respect and love for the movement he has started working on for COVID relief… No words just Respect and Prayers for all his efforts!!! @imVkohli,”

Earlier, the 2021 IPL had to be postponed for an indefinite time period after a series of coronavirus cases in the camps. 29 matches could only take place and the BCCI is currently looking for a window and an apt venue to finish the remainder of the tournament.

“The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect,” the BCCI stated in an advisory.

Among cricketers, Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier, Amit Mishra and Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. In the support staff, Laxmipathy Balaji and Michael Hussey couldn’t evade the wrath of the virus.
