Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma pledge to help flood-affected people in Assam and Bihar
More than 50 lakh people are affected due to floods in Assam and Bihar.

India is fighting against Coronavirus, which is at the peak in the country at the moment. The count of the registered cases is close to 16 lakh with more than 35,000 people losing their lives. Along with the pandemic, states like Bihar and Assam are also in trouble due to floods. As many as 133 people have lost their lives in Assam while close to 17 lakh are affected while nearly 40 lakh people are affected in Bihar.
Several organisations have come forward to help these two states in these tough times. India captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have pledged to lend a helping hand to people in need through three such organisations. This isn’t the first time, the power couple is leading the way in supporting the affected this year.
Earlier, they donated an undisclosed amount to PM CARES and Maharashtra CM Relief Fund to help the nation fight the pandemic. This time around, they have decided to support Rapid Response, Action Aid and Goonj, three welfare organisations, in their work to help the those affected due to floods in Assam and Bihar.

Virat Kohli took to his official Twitter handle to let his fans and followers about their generous work and also urged them to support in any which way they can. “While our country is in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, people in Assam and Bihar are also suffering due to the devastating floods that have affected so many lives and livelihood.
“While we continue to pray for the people in Assam and Bihar, Anushka and I have also pledged to help those in need by supporting these three organisations that have been doing credible work in flood relief and welfare. As far as Virat Kohli’s return to the field is concerned, he, along with other India players, will be soon participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) scheduled to start from September 19 in the UAE.
