Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two of the most prolific cricketers in India at the present point in time. The former has ruled the roost as far as the rankings are concerned and has averaged in excess of 50 in all three formats. The 32-year-old from New Delhi is also touted to break the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s records in ODI cricket if not in all three formats of the sport.

Virat last played international cricket back in December when India lost the opening Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The veteran came back to India in order to be with his wife, Anushka Sharma, also a Bollywood actress, who was due to give birth to their first child. He didn’t play in the second, third, and fourth Test in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane respectively.

Rohit, on the other hand, returned in the Test series after he recovered from the hamstring injury that he sustained during the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL). He didn’t play the first two Tests, but then returned in the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Rohit also had to face a bit of criticism after he gave his wicket away to off-spinner Nathan Lyon after getting his eyes in.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma training

In the meantime, both Rohit and Virat were seen training ahead of India’s four-match Test series against England. The series gets underway on February 5 with the opening Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, also known as the Chepauk. However, fans were a little surprised to see the veterans training together going into the all-important series.

Over the last one and half years or so, there have been numerous reports on rifts between Rohit and Virat, especially after the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales. Talks of even split captaincy did the rounds for a while.

But there’s nothing much to worry about for the time being keeping in mind the fact that they have been exceptional for Team India in all three formats of the game. Nevertheless, Twitterati expressed their surprise over the duo practicing together.
