Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan rise in the latest ICC T20I rankings

Washington Sundar takes a jump of 8 spots in the T20I ranking.

The Indian team lately played against South Africa in a three-match T20I series and ended on 1-1. India lost their fancy chance of winning their first series against the Proteas in T20I but the Indian players who featured in the series have been handed with improved T20I rankings. The latest rankings took into account the India-South Africa series, the Bangladesh tri-series featuring Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, as well as the tri-series, involving Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands.

T20I skipper of South Africa Quinton De Kock has reached his highest ever ranking moving up to 30th rank from 49th position after the three-match T20I series against India. Hazratullah Zazai has gained the highest ratings as an Afghanistan batsman in T20Is while 21st-ranked George Munsey became the first Scotland batsman to reach 600 points.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan accelerated in T20I rankings

In updated T20I rankings, Rohit Sharma who is the vice-captain of India in limited-overs cricket, has moved a step above in the T20I ranking of batsmen grabbing the 8th spot, whereas Shikhar Dhawan and Indian skipper Virat Kohli have also come inches closer to get into the top 10 batsmen around the world. A blissful inning of 72 runs in the 2nd T20I made Virat gain one spot and reach 11th whereas his fellow teammate Shikhar Dhawan, who gained 3 places and is on 13th position, is just behind him.

Babar Azam is currently the best T20I batsman with 896 ratings in the latest released ranking by ICC. In bowlers ranking, Rashid Khan of Afghanistan is still leading the table whereas among the Indian team that played against South Africa only Washington Sundar has improved his ranking by taking a long jump of 8 places and has ended his series on 50th rank whereas Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has moved into the top 10 with seven wickets in the tri-series.

According to T20I team rankings India is placed in the fourth position just behind the South Africa who are currently at 3rd, Pakistan being the leaders of the board.
