Virat Kohli is from another planet: Sunil Gavaskar

Indian captain Virat Kohli has been in phenomenal form; every time he has turned up to bat he has had this bag full of responsibilities and he has come true to on it each time. When the Indian team was challenged in the first inning by England with 400 runs in the Mumbai Test opener Murali Vijay responded with a century but that was not adequate. Skipper Kohli who had a crucial stand with him carried on to not only score his 15th Test hundred but also took the team in a leading position and was unbeaten at the end of the day as well.

Having watched Kohli play yet another astonishing knock from close quarters former Indian captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar while talking to NDTV said it appears to him like the 28-year-old is from another planet some planet which is yet to be discovered by the rest of the human race. “Virat Kohli is from another planet. I think he comes from an undiscovered planet,” Gavaskar said.

He isn’t as experienced as a captain yet and is leading the team in the 21st Test. He is getting the first-hand experience of the challenges and is coining in his own ways of taking them on. The best thing is he has accepted if ever committed a mistake as captain and is eager to make the necessary changes to do better the next time.

Little master also praised Virat’s roles as the skipper and said, “As a captain, he is still very young, but he is willing to learn and get better every day,”

In the ongoing series, he has already scored over 550 runs in the 4 Tests of this series and his lowest score is 40 that he scored in the first innings at Rajkot, in the next he was unbeaten on 49. He scored a magnificent 167 at Vizag and 81 in the following inning. 62 and 6* followed in Mohali and now in the Mumbai Test is batting well over 150 and looks set to score yet another double ton.
