India and Australia currently involved in the second of the three-match ODI series in Sydney at the SCG. The visitors are already lagging by 0-1 having lost the series opener by 66 runs. This is a must-win game for them and their skipper Virat Kohli will be hoping that his troops step up to keep the contest alive. The man himself likes to lead from the front and he has a chance to make his milestone game a special occasion.

Kohli is playing his 250th ODI today and the team is chasing. Irrespective of the score India will be gunning down, the Indian captain will be keen to take the team over the line in yet another chase. In his illustrious ODI career so far, Kohli has scored a mammoth 11888 runs and a three-figure score in the second ODI against Australia might also take him past the magical number of 12000.

His average of 59.1 has rather come down after having an indifferent year thus far and even then, it is looking daunting. Virat Kohli has smothered 43 centuries and 58 fifty-plus scores in the format. As far as his milestone is concerned, he has become eighth Indian cricketer ever to play 250 ODIs for India while ninth overall with Virender Sehwag playing 241 ODIs for country and 10 other for Asia XI and ICC World XI.

Who are the other cricketers to get to the milestone?

Team India has been lucky to get the players over the years who can play for a longer period of time. Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of this list having played 463 ODIs in his career and it goes without saying that he is the top run-scrorer not only for India but also in the world. The only bowler to achieve this feat for India is Anil Kumble who ended his career with 334 wickets in 269 matches.

The rest of the players in this list are MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh who all are regarded as legends of Indian cricket. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be looking to make his milestone game memorable and he is clearly set to play a lot more matches for his country.
