Virat Kohli dedicates Trent Bridge MoM to wife Anushka Sharma for having copped a lot of criticism in the past

The Indian skipper was also adjudged the Man of the Match for his performances.

Virat Kohli has never let an opportunity go to appreciate his loved ones, especially when it comes to his wife, Anushka Sharma. Having dedicated his hundred to her in the first Test at Edgbaston. He once again credited Anushka after registering a clinical victory over England at Trent Bridge on Wednesday. The Indian skipper devoted his performances in both innings of the game to his better half.

The efforts put in by the Indian team in the third Test of the series with both the bat and the ball were exceptional, earning them the much-needed victory, to bring the series to a 2-1 balance though still in England’s favour. Kohli, in particular, was fabulous with the bat as he scored a century in the second innings and missed out on another narrowly in the first innings by just 3 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his performances.

Virat credits Anushka for keeping him motivated

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Kohli made it a point to acknowledge the tragic state of affairs in flood-stricken Kerala and dedicated their victory to the people of the state. Further, he appreciated his wife for having kept him positive all throughout the game.

“I want to dedicate my innings, especially to my wife. She’s motivated me a lot, kept pushing me. She’s the only one who keeps me positive out there. She has copped a lot in the past but she deserves the credit for this one,” said an elated Kohli.

Anushka was present in the stands at Edgbaston, where Kohli had scored 149 runs in the first Test of the series. Trent Bridge also witnessed the talented actor stand tall in support of her husband during his 23rd Test century. Kohli, on his part, sent a flying kiss towards her soon after he reached the milestone. Anushka Sharma, who’d had to endure a lot of unreasonable flak for Kohli’s bad performances in the past sent them right back at him . and was all smiles this time around.

Having set a hefty total of 521 runs for England to chase down in the final innings of the game, India put in some exquisite performances from the pacers, including the likes of Ishant Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. England were bowled out within the first ten minutes of the fifth day of play, to hand India their first victory in the ongoing series.
