Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has shattered yet another record and on Tuesday (June 7), he became the first cricketer to reach 200 million followers on Instagram. He’s also the first Indian to reach the massive milestone. One of the finest batters in the modern era, Kohli is an avid user of social media, who keeps fans up to date with his daily-life activities.

From giving couple goals by posting lovely pictures with wife Anushka Sharma to motivating fans with his workout videos, Kohli’s posts often take social media by storm. As a result, his followers on the picture-sharing website have been growing at a rapid pace. Meanwhile, soon after getting to the milestone, Kohli took to the social media platform and expressed gratitude. “200 million strong. Thanks for all your support insta fam,” Kohli captioned an Instagram post.

Virat Kohli is the third-most followed athlete

Meanwhile, Kohli is overall the third-most followed sports person in the world after football icons Cristiano Ronaldo (450M) and Lionel Messi (333M).

On the work front, the 33-year-old was last seen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, where he served the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although the talismanic cricketer was far away from his best, RCB managed to qualify for the playoffs but the prestigious title remained elusive for them. Kohli did play some fine knocks, but inconsistent performances earned him massive criticism.

As far as his numbers are concerned, Kohli scored 341 runs in 16 matches, with his average and strike rate being just over 22 and 115 respectively. These numbers are far from impressive and the veteran batter would like to get his mojo back sooner than later. He’ll next be seen in the rescheduled fifth Test against England, which gets underway on July 1 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.

India lead an inconclusive series by 2-1 and even a draw would earn them a historic Test series win on English soil. With stakes being pretty high in the contest, Kohli would like to make his bat talk.
