Virat Kohli, who has clearly shown his friendliness for Mohammad Amir, gave yet another gesture of admiration for the fast bowler. The Indian batsman gifted his bat to Amir during the teams’ net session at Eden Gardens on Friday.
Both teams are set to clash on Saturday at the Eden Gardens. The Indian and the Pakistan team were practicing in the venue. Kohli walked across to the Pakistan nets and shook hands with Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. Both talked for several minutes before Kohli called out Amir from the Pakistan nets and handed over a bat. Amir did not hesitate and accepted it with a smile. Amir took a feel of the bat by taking a stance and then thanked the Indian batsman for this amazing gesture.
“I am thankful to Kohli for the bat and it has increased his respect,’ said a delighted Amir.
The Indo-Pak clashes are high-intensity ones. But, the players from both the sides have always asserted that they don’t play under pressure and take it as just another important game.
This definitely shows Virat Kohli’s liking for Mohammad Amir and gave a depiction of the camaraderie both cricketers share among them.
Earlier, Virat Kohli during the Asia Cup T20 last month had praised Amir for his superb spell of fast bowling which shook India badly. Amir had rocked the Indian top order with three wickets, adding spice to the low-scoring match where India was chasing a mere 84-run target in Dhaka. However, it was Kohli who nullified his threat and took India home.
