West Indies seamer Kesrick Williams recently opined on the Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma comparing their batting styles. The Vincentian cricketer also opened up on his rivalry with the Indian skipper saying that the next time the duo would face each other in the match field, it will be nothing less than a battle and both of them will be highly pumped up.

Last year, West Indies had toured India for a three-match ODI and T20 series in the month of December where the hosts had outshined the visitors in both the limited-over series by 2-1. One of the major highlights of the West Indies tour was the clash between Williams and Kohli.

The two cricketers came face-to-face for the first time in 2017 when Williams had used his signature ‘notebook celebration’ after dismissing Kohli during a contest in Jamaica. The celebrations by the Caribbean pacer had not gone well with the Indian skipper as he gave it back to Williams during the Hyderabad T20 International in 2019. Virat scored unbeaten 94 in that match and after hitting a six to Williams he gimmicked his celebration.

Speaking about the same, the Zouks pacer revealed that it was a feisty experience and it will be a kind of battle when the next time the two will be opposite each other on the match field.

“On the day, if I get a wicket, it just happens naturally. So, I do not know what I will do next when I ever dismiss Kohli next. One thing I will do next for sure is next time if I will play Kohli, it will be a battle. As soon as he sees me, he is going to be pumped (up). I am going to be pumped (up) as well. Let’s see how it goes next time when we meet,” he told TOI.

Both Rohit and Virat are really really talented players: Kesrick Williams

Further in the interview, Williams showered praises on two of India’s mainstays in the limited-overs format, Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The pacer stated that Virat is the guy who tries to set his innings and will perform the way he has decided to. While talking about Rohit, Kesrick said that Rohit is more of a shotgun player.

“If Virat comes out and he decides to beat you today, he will beat you. He is a guy who sets up the game. If he decides he has to score a hundred today, he is going to play cricket like anything. If he decides he has to bat till the end, he will bat till the end,” the 30-year-old said.

“Both Rohit and Virat are really really talented players. Rohit Sharma is more of a shotgun. He decides I am going to beat you, that’s it. On the other hand, Kohli decides I am going to beat you but I am going to beat you smartly. He is relaxed and works the ball around,” he added.
