The Indian captain Virat Kohli has scaled a lot of heights and his consistency with the bat has left everyone in awe. The way he played in England amassing 593 runs in five Test matches has all but confirmed that he is the best batsman in the world currently. Now even the former England cricketer Mike Brearley has nodded positively over the same and has termed Kohli as the ‘Genius’.
Brearley, who had earlier feared Kohli’s dominating attitude might be uncontrollable going forward, feels that the cricketer is a complete batsman and transforms his game smoothly across the formats. While affirming that he is the best at the moment, Mike also praised the Indian team travelling to Australia.
“He (Virat Kohli) is a wonderful batsman, the best batsman in the world. He averages over 50 (and) has a very good rate of scoring in T20s, One Day Internationals and Test cricket. He forms a bridge between these different forms of batting and brings classic batsmanship to T20 cricket. I think he is sort of a genius as a batsman,” Brearley was quoted as saying by The Statesman.
They’ve very good bowlers
Indian bowlers, this year, have been extremely good rolling over the opposition twice which is extremely important to win a Test match. Mike Brearley, who played 39 Tests for England, was all about them and felt that this is one of the better teams travelling down under.
“I think they (India) are probably as good as ever as they have been going to Australia. Their top bowlers are very, very good and we were all impressed by them in England,” added the former England captain.
India will commence their tour on November 21 with the three-match T20I series after which the two teams will fight it out for the ultimate glory in four Tests and three One-Day Internationals.
