It is of course, a well-known fact that the Indian cricket team practices football during warm-ups. Dhoni’s love for football is of course well known. He has already visited Old Trafford, the home ground of Manchester United and is also one of the co-owners of the ISL franchise Chennaiyin FC. Indian Test captain Virat Kohli is also a follower of football.

On 4th June, India’s Bollywood stars will play against the Indian cricket stars in a charity football match in Mumbai. Abhishek Bachchan will lead an All Stars Football Club against All Hearts Football Club, which will include names like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Yuvraj Singh among others.

These two sides played against each other in such a fixture last year and it was the All Hearts Football club who came out on top with the win. They had complete control in the first half of the match as the first-half ended with 3-0 for the All Hearts Football club. Abhishek Bachchan’s side came back strongly in the second half and scored 3 goals in return, but at the end, it wasn’t enough as the All Hearts won the match with a scoreline that read 4-3.

“Last time the cricketers destroyed us in the first half, but we played well in the second half, finally losing 4-3. But we are going to win this year,” said Nishant Mehra, who has taken upon the coaching duties and will also play as a midfielder for the celebrity team.

Mehra has previously played for Mumbai FC and also as the technical director of the club. He also praised MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli for their football skills. “(Mahendra Singh) Dhoni is extremely quick, his acceleration is unparalleled. He’s always in the squat position on the field and is quick with the ball. Virat’s drive to win is spectacular. He is competitive. Also, that the Indian cricket team practices football to stay fit and to warm-up is a well-known fact but we have our own strengths too.”

For the All Stars, Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Arjun Kapoor, Dino Morea, Kartik Aryan, Raj Kundra, Shabir Ahluwalia, Karan Wahi, Rohan Shrestha, Vivian Dsena, Nishant Mehra and a few others are expected to feature in the match. Ranbir Kapoor acts as Abhishek Bachchan’s deputy in the match. And for the All Hearts, apart from Dhoni and Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Zaheer Khan, Varun Aaron, Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya will take part in the tournament.
