During India’s home T20I series against England earlier this year, the picture of young Kohli during his teenage receiving an award from Ashish Nehra did rounds all over social media. The picture tried to depict the large strides Indian captain made during his career as he captained the guy from whom he received an award from back in the 90s.
As the coin has two faces, the picture also depicts the longevity of ‘Ashu Bhai’ who is one of the only few to be playing presently having made his debut in the 90s. The road towards achieving the feat wasn’t easy as Nehra had to go under the knife a whopping 12 times in his career.
After impressive performances in IPL this season, the selectors gave the nod to the old warhorse of Indian cricket in the upcoming T20I series against Australia. Captain Kohli recently featured in a chat show named ‘Breakfast with Champions’ and opened up about the Indian veteran.

“I have come here only because I watched the previous (Ashish Nehra’s) episode,” Kohli said. I was inspired by that…I didn’t feel like coming until I saw Nehraji’s episode,” hilariously stated Virat Kohli according to IB Times.
“It was amazing! I have never watched an interview like this in my life. People don’t really know that he (Nehra) doesn’t try to be funny, but he is. That is what we love about him….But he is a good man,” claimed captain Kohli. Ashu
He concluded by saying that he was looking forward to meeting his fellow Delhi teammate, Ashish Nehra in the upcoming T20I series against Australia. “Ashu Bhai is a class apart. Now we will meet him during the T20s,” ended Kohli. India
India plays Australia in a 3-match T20I series starting October 7 at Ranchi. The following matches would be played at Guwahati and Hyderabad.
