Virat Kohli pens a farewell message to retiring Kumar Sangakkara: Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli wrote a heartening farewell message to the retiring legend Kumar Sangakkara, thanking him for all that he has given to the cricketing world. Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan veteran, playing the last international match of his career has received a penned goodbye note by Kohli, who considers himself “lucky” to have played in the same era as the elegant left hander.

“Dear Sanga, it’s been an absolute pleasure knowing you as a person first and no words can explain your great cricketing achievements,” Kohli wrote in his message to the retiring Sri Lankan batsman.

“You have inspired so many people and shown them the way. Lucky to have played in the same era as you. Thanks for everything. God bless you and your family and wish you the best in life ahead,” he added to the note, the photograph of which was posted on twitter by BCCI.

Kumar Sangakkara is a true legend and one of the best batsman the Sri Lankan islands have ever produced. He had already announced that he would retire after the ongoing 2nd Test match of the 3-match series against India. Sangakkara is no doubt a gentleman of the game, and a loved face all over the world. After the Indian team gave Sanga an emotional farewell yesterday, Kohli penned down these words in the honour of the stylist left-hander.

Sangakkara bids adieu to his International career after playing 134 Test matches, scoring 12,400 runs at an average of 57.40 and 14234 runs from 404 ODIs at an average of 41.98. The crowd, his team mates and the opponents bowed down to the legend yesterday as he left the crease for the very last time. Sanga will soon be seen playing county cricket, and will also try to spend more time with his friends and family now that he has retired.
