Virat Kohli sets 'go bold' mantra for the year 2017

Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli has been on a roll in 2016. No other cricketer had a year as spectacular as Kohli did. He started off the year on a high with a stunning show down under. Soon, he was the most valuable player in the World T20 and the IPL. He translated the good form into the longer format where he led the Indian team. Under his captaincy, India remained unbeaten in Tests this year.

Now, Virat is all set to take his ‘bold’ and ‘aggressive’ intent forward in the new calendar year. In a recent tweet and open letter to his fans, Kohli said that his mantra for the year 2017 will be to go bold. He rightly said that he will not run away from making key decisions and back his instincts no matter what.

Talking on the same lines, he wrote, “There is only one thing worse than living with the consequences of making a bold move: the regret of not making one. So, here’s my mantra for the New Year. I will do what I have always done — follow my instincts and make my own choices.” He added that people initially doubted the bold moves. But the recent successes of the team will make the people believe that his agenda is indeed the right way to go forward.

“People believe I know exactly what I am doing that I know for sure how my decisions are going to turn out. Given the recent success on the pitch, that belief is now probably sweeping the nation,” he added. He remarked that when he takes a big call, even he is under the darkness of the consequence.

It is unknown whether the decision will yield success or not. But, he goes with the instinct. “When I am about to make a decision that goes against convention, I don’t know if it’s all going to turn out fine. I don’t know if I am going to succeed. I really don’t,” Virat Kohli said.

Kohli took to his social media Twitter handle to express his bold mantra. He wrote, “My mantra for 2017:Follow my instincts & make my own choices Read the letter #BoldMove #Spon.”
