The four-day practice match between India and Leicestershire witnessed a few on-field moments that included senior pacer Mohammed Shami dismissing his national teammate Cheteshwar Pujara with a great delivery. However, Shami’s bowling partner and India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was not lucky enough as he conceded a six in one of the most demoralizing manners for any fast bowler.

The person who hit the upper cut off Bumrah was none other than batting megastar Virat Kohli who roared back to form in this practice game. Kohli looked in great touch at Grace Road less than a week ahead of the rescheduled fifth Test match at Edgbaston as he took the bowlers to the cleaners and Jasprit Bumrah was no exception either.

Virat Kohli gains upper hand over Jasprit Bumrah

On the third day of the ongoing practice game, Kohli scored a morale-boosting half-century and it was during the sublime innings that he played an upper-cut off a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli’s splendid hit went viral in no time as fans were delighted to see the 33-year-old get his mojo back. The video has been posted by Leicester Cricket on their official Twitter handle. Take a look.

Speaking of the incident, Bumrah bowled a short ball well outside the off-stump, but Kohli had an answer to the vicious delivery which came at a chest height after pitching and he ensured that it was dispatched into the stands. The extra pace of the ball helped the former skipper to get the desired result in the end.

Meanwhile, India led Leicestershire by 366 runs at the end of the third day’s play. As far as Kohli’s individual performances are concerned, he registered scores of 33 and 67 in the first and second innings.

Meanwhile, the onus will be on Virat Kohli to come good with the bat in the rescheduled fifth Test match against England next week. The visitors have received a huge setback after regular skipper Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 and with vice-captain KL Rahul ruled out for a prolonged period of time due to a groin injury, it remains to be seen who exactly will be leading the Indian team in this contest.
