Team India lost their semi-final against New Zealand in Manchester by 18 runs which also shattered their World Cup dreams. The end of the tourney is also likely to bring the curtains on some of the players’ careers. Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav are two of them with age not on their side while MS Dhoni‘s retirement can come anytime soon in the near future. However, two other members, the physio Patrick Farhart and the strength and conditional trainer Basu Shanker bid adieu to the team.

Both of them had shared a great camaraderie with all the players in the team. Often, the Indian cricketers used to post pictures with them on social media to share the funny moments with their followers. Rather, Patrick and Basu both could be deemed as the unsung heroes of the team who kept the players fit and guided them properly whenever needed. Virat Kohli, in a send-off message to the duo, thanked both of them for their amazing work with Team India.

The duo’s tenure with the team has ended and it seems that it was previously decided that they would leave the team after the World Cup. Patrick Farhart himself announced the same after the match on Wednesday and was honoured to work with the Indian team.

“Whilst my last day with the team did not turn out as I wanted it to, I would like to thank @BCCI for the opportunity to work with the team for the last 4 years. My best wishes to all of the players and support staff for the future #

You both are true gentlemen

Virat Kohli, after putting out the tweet thanking the fans on Wednesday, was kind enough on Thursday to appreciate the work from Patrick Farhart and Basu Shanker. He termed them true gentlemen and wished them the best in the life ahead.

“Thank you Patrick and Basu for the amazing work you both have done for the team. More importantly, the friendship you have with all of us is even more special. You both are true gentlemen. Wish you the best for everything else in life ahead. @ patrickfarhart,” Kohli’s tweet read.
