Punjab National Bank (PNB), an Indian multinational banking and financial services company, is in the news for all the wrong reasons these days. The fraud of a whopping Rs. 11000 Crore was disclosed by the bank and held one of the richest men in the country, Nirav Modi, responsible for the same. The news spread like wildfire throughout the country which also hampered the image of the bank. However, there is a possibility now that the Indian captain Virat Kohli, who is the brand ambassador of the bank, might cancel all his ties with them.

PNB had roped in the high profile cricketer as their brand ambassador in 2016 in order to improve their image which had taken a hit due to rising bad loans. Even Kohli had then recommended everyone to open their accounts in PNB as he himself was the account holder in the same bank since the age of 16 years.

Will Virat continue his relationship with PNB?

After Nirav Modi-PNB fraud case, there are speculations that Virat Kohli might give up his position of being the brand ambassador of the bank which has hit the country like a storm. Even the image of the Indian superstar might get affected if he continues his relationship with PNB.

“For a few days now, Punjab National Bank’s scam has grabbed headlines and it’s obvious that Virat who is the face of the brand feels that he should walk away from them. Like any other celebrity, even Virat would not like to be a face of the brand which has been in a negative light,” the source close to the matters was quoted as saying by International Business Times.

The source also recalled when MS Dhoni had cancelled all his ties with Amrapali Group after they were accused of delays in their projects. “Even MS Dhoni who was the brand ambassador of the high profile Amrapali Group, snapped his ties after the brand was accused of delays in construction projects and several other complaints,” the source further added.
