Virat Kohli’s stupendous knock of 149 runs in the ongoing first Test against England has given India the chance of winning the game out of nowhere. It was his grit and determination which helped the team restore parity by the end of second day’s play at Edgbaston. However, after reaching the three-figure mark, Kohli, like he did in South Africa, kissed the wedding ring tied to his chain and dedicated the innings to his wife and Bollywood Diva Anushka Sharma who was present in the stands.
He values his relationship a lot and has stressed time and again about the positive impact Anushka’s presence has had on his life. His masterful knock also shut the critics who were claiming that his record in England was poor on the back of his horror 2014 tour. He had only mustered 134 runs in 10 innings four years ago and Kohli has already crossed that mark in his first outing on this tour.
Interestingly, Vinod Kambli became nostalgic after watching Virat Kohli celebrate his ton and reminisced his playing days. An exciting young talent then, the left-hander also used to recognize the importance of his wife in the same way.
Kambli recalls his 1996 century
Kambli recalled one of his ODI centuries back in 1996 and found similarities with the kind of celebration Kohli did on Thursday. He posted both the celebratory images on his official Twitter handle and gushed over it. However, he also didn’t forget to mention that his wife, unfortunately, couldn’t witness it live in the Stadium.
The 46-year-old captioned the picture with a message which read, “A celebration of similar fashion… One’s wife witnessed it, another’s was at home… #LordoftheRINGS.”
Vinod Kambli had hogged the limelight after his world-record partnership with Sachin Tendulkar during his school days. He was also expected to scale the similar heights like his childhood friend then but somehow he faded away after starting his career in sparkling fashion.
Here’s his tweet:
