Indian Test Captain Virat Kohli revealed that opener KL Rahul is all set to make a comeback in the Second Test match which begins tomorrow at Colombo. Lokesh Rahul missed out on the First Test match at Galle as he was down with the flu. Rahul last played against the Australians back in March in the Fourth Test at Dharamsala and later pulled out of the IPL and Champions Trophy due to the shoulder injury he sustained during the First Test at Pune.

Rahul missed out on a large chunk of action as he was recuperation with his surgery he had undergone in the United Kingdoms. The Royal Challengers Bangalore felt the void the most as they languished at the bottom of the table throughout the majority of the tournament and were placed last at the points table this season.

Although, Rahul’s absence came as a boon in disguise for Shikhar Dhawan who has made the most of the opportunities presented to him during the Champions Trophy, West Indies tour and now in the First Test match at Galle. “KL Rahul has been our establish opener. One of the openers will have to make way for KL. What he has done in the past two years for us is very solid and he deserves to come back and start fresh in Test cricket,” commented Virat Kohli according to Indian Express.

“We have a team meeting after the practice and we can clarify more after the meeting but according to me, KL is definitely coming back in the top order, There is a lot of grass. When you have a big squad there are a lot of possibilities. We don’t like to announce anything a day prior. It’s sort of a surprise for the opposition. Looking at the conditions we can go with anyone. Everyone is prepared to take the field,” concluded the Indian skipper.
