Virat Kohli's jersey for Shahid Afridi Foundation goes up for auction

We are all familiar about the wonderful gesture from Team India during the T20 World Cup 2016, when they gifted a signed Virat Kohli Jersey to Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi. The jersey was handed over to the rampant six hitter after the two teams met in their group stage encounter.

The jersey was signed by all the Indian players, namely Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Suresh Raina, Pawan Negi, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin and Hardik Pandya. Head coach Ravi Shastri also put in his signature.

The main story:

The jersey was finally auctioned yesterday and the money raised will be donated to Shahid Afridi’s charity going by the name of Shahid Afridi Foundation. The winning bid for the jersey was 4300 Euros which will go to the organization with a noble mission. The auction took place in the United Kingdom where a dinner was organized by the Shahid Afridi Foundation. Shahid Afridi himself was present during the auction while other big names included Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim. Both the cricketers decided to take the responsibility of 20 beds in Shahid Afridi Foundation Thar Hospital.

The relation between the Indian and Pakistani cricketers have been quite smooth unlike the relation between their fans. While fans continue to fight over which country is superior the players share a bond of mutual love and respect. Virat Kohli donated his bat to Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir on two occasions. One during the World T20 in 2016 and the other during their group stage encounter in the ICC Champions Trophy which came to an end last month. Both the players are known to be admirers of each other. Mohammad Amir recently hailed Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world while Virat is one of those keepers who has always been vocal about Amir’s immense talent as a bowler.
