Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has lauded Virat Kohli, saying that the Indian captain is improving with each passing day as a skipper. Shastri also added that the passion and energy with which Kohli plays the game is unmatched.
Virat Kohli has had an enterprising couple of years as the Indian captain during which he has broken a lot of records. He led his side to victory in Australia and made history when India won the Test series 2-1 for the very first time in Australia.
Even though India lost the Test series in England 4-1 and South Africa 2-1, the way Kohli led the Indian side gained a lot of appreciation. He was sensational as a batsman by scoring the most runs in both the series and impressed everyone with the aggression displayed by the Indian team.
Under his captaincy, the fast bowling attack of the team has become arguably the best in the world. The primary reason for India’s success in Test cricket is due to the fact that they have been able to take 20 wickets with the ball and it all changed when Kohli became the skipper.
However, the ICC trophy has eluded Virat Kohli and his men but the performance of the Indian team under his leadership has been consistent. However, it could all change as there is a T20 world cup in Australia in 2020.
Virat is someone who is improving every day: Ravi Shastri
In an Interview with IANS on New Year’s day, Shastri stated that no captain in the world is perfect and Virat is no different. He also mentioned that he has learned a lot as a skipper from different situations in the last few years.
Shastri said, “Virat is someone who is improving every day. The passion and energy with which he plays the game is unmatched. I have not seen any other captain with the same passion and energy. Tactically he is getting better and with experience he will improve more”.
“I have never seen a perfect captain. Everyone has their own strengths and weakness. A captain might have great strength in one department but lack somewhere else. Virat has learnt from different situations and the way he has taken Indian Cricket forward is remarkable”.
Shastri also told that Kohli’s love for Test cricket will have a massive impact not only in India but all over the world.
“When it comes to Test Cricket there is no one better than Virat Kohli to endorse the game all over the world. He loves playing Test Cricket the most that set an example for every cricketer. So as young cricketer when you see a great player like him focus so much on Test Cricket, You will want to emulate him whether you are from Australia, Sri Lankan or Pakistan.”
