Virender Sehwag with the bat was an easy player to understand. If the ball was in his hitting zone or anywhere near it, he would go for it, there were no second thoughts. No matter who the bowler was and what the experts suggested based on the conditions Viru cared little about the details and just played his game. But ever since he has donned the hat of an expert himself and tweets on anything and everything it’s been tough to get hold of the string of his thoughts.

While on one hand, the former Indian opener has been vocal about the fact that Team India will run through Pakistan in the final of the Champions Trophy where they are supposed to clash in less than 24 hours with his clichéd lines on India being the Baap (father) and Pakistan the Beta (son). He has now come out to back the Pakistani skipper who was recently in the firing line of trolls on social media.

It is a known fact that Pakistani cricketers struggle with their English; they aren’t trained enough to speak in fluent English and same is the case with the current skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. He was interacting with the media in the press conference and had a tough time dealing with questions darted at him in the language he is not the most comfortable with.

The video of the press meet soon surfaced on social media and needless to say it went viral. Sarfraz was criticised for his English with some suggesting he should take classes to improve his communication skills since he is the captain of the national team.

But in Sehwag’s view, there is nothing wrong in not knowing English. With his tweet, the commentator suggested that it is his skills on the field that matters and not his proficiency with language and those who are trolling him should move on since Sarfraz has done exceptionally well as a player and captain of the team to lead them to the final of the Champions Trophy.

Viru tweeted- “Criticizing Sarfaraz for not speaking English is insane. His job is to play&he has done brilliantly 2 take Pak in finals #StopColonialMindset”

Here are some of the replies to his tweets
