Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opening batsman, has always been an active Twitter user. The schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 had been announced few days back by the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which the defending champions India will play their first match against the arch-rivals Pakistan.

Group A consists of Australia, New Zealand along with England and Bangladesh. The Group B has defending champions India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka. Announcing the schedule, ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said: “The ICC Champions Trophy is a short and sharp event, which is followed and enjoyed by the spectators and players alike.

“The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 is not just an ODI competition, it carries a great deal of value since it is being played just three months before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 qualification cut-off date. As such, every point earned here could be crucial,” he added.

Virender Sehwag took on Twitter to appeal Pakistan fans not to break their TV sets, assuming India winning over Pakistan, as India had never lost to Pakistan in World Cups.

Earlier, when the former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar posted a team picture of Pakistan from the 90s with the caption “Dream team.. Full of talent and characters ..1 of the best Pak team I ever played with..”, Sehwag had a dig on Akhtar saying “Very good team Shoaib Bhai, many legends ,but still couldn’t beat India in any World Cup.Still searching for Mauka.”

He has been highly engaged in the commentary stint as well from the ICC World Cup 2016. “Hathi ki size ko, boss ki wife ko aur Nehra ji ki advice ko saara desh salaam karta,” he said during the ICC World T20 2016.

“I made fellow cricketers laugh on the field in my playing days. Likewise, I thought I can amuse people with my commentary as well,” Sehwag said on his new role as a commentator few weeks ago in 92.7 Big FM’s promotional video.
