Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has made a name for himself in the social media space. With his hilarious digs on the social media, he has been an entertainer of the field. His most recent target was for ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin was today named the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and also won the Sir Garfield Sobers Cricketer of the Year award.

The off-spinner has been in a rampaging form for the last couple of years. He had finished the 2015 season with the number one ranking in ICC Test bowlers’ rankings. He continued on the same lines to finish this year as the top ranked bowler as well. It comes as no suprise that Ashwin bagged the coveted accolades this year.

His former teammate Virender Sehwag was a mighty pleased man. He took no time to congratulate Ashwin for getting the awards. However, the good wishes came in Sehwag’s own witty style.

This time, it was an unusual comparison that Sehwag drew for wishing Ashwin. He compared the off-spinner to Aloo ki Sabji. The reason being Ashwin’s adaptability that sees him fit in any situation. This is pretty much like the Aloo ki Sabji, that also fits in any meal. In a very funny tweet, Virender Sehwag wrote, “Badhai Ho @ashwinravi99, ICC Cricketer of the Year. Adjusting in all situations like Aaloo Ki Sabji. #AshwinRocks.”

R Ashwin became the third Indian player to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Cricketer of the Year award after Rahul Dravid (2004) and Sachin Tendulkar (2010). Other players to have won the award are Andrew Flintoff and Jacques Kallis (2005), Ricky Ponting (2006 and 2007), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (2008), Mitchell Johnson (2009 and 2014), Jonathan Trott (2011), Kumar Sangakkara (2012), Michael Clarke (2013) and Steve Smith (2015).

Ashwin was clearly aware of the elite list that he joined. A very jovial Ashwin quoted, “It’s an absolute honour. It feels great to follow the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in being named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year. To also win the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year makes it even better.
