Cheteshwar Pujara might not have enjoyed the best of times in the West Indies since he couldn’t score a half century in the two Tests he played while the third was washed out, he was left out of the team for the last and limited overs opener Rohit Sharma was preferred instead. Skipper Virat Kohli has stated that the thinking is to have more impact players in the team, the ones who have the ability to change the course of the game in a session and that is why Pujara misses out.

That hasn’t affected him the slightest and has rather turned it into inspiration to do even better in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. He joined the India Blue team for the last league game and scored a brilliant century, made it big and got out only after scoring 166 runs. His team qualified for the final and as they were out to bat first he delivered once again.

He walked into bat at No. 3 the position he loves to bat on. Joined skipper Gautam Gambhir and then just took the game away from the opposition. Pujara got to his hundred, kept going and then did what he is known for in domestic cricket, converted it into a biggie and raised the bat for the second time to register his 10th first-class century.

The India Blue team decided to declare at 693 runs Pujara was still there batting unbeaten on 256. The other notable aspect, his strike rate in the huge knock was 70.52. Something people have been too critical about and that was what prompted Virender Sehwag to Tweet this – ‘Pujari ji 51,101,151 ke shagun me khush nahi hote.256not out and he just batted 60overs,brilliant from @cheteshwar1’
