Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has made it a tradition now to wish his compatriots from the cricketing world on their birthdays. Most of his wishes also have a tinge of Viru’s spice in it and that makes it something definitely worth waiting. If I am not wrong, some of the players who have been following his birthday messages would certainly wait for what he has to say on their birthday.

Former Pakistan skipper Zaheer Abbas celebrates his 69th birthday today and Sehwag wished him with a Tweet that read – ‘Happy Bday Zaheer Abbas Sir.It is true that when he batted against India,we used to say Zaheer “Ab Bas” kar, also Sunny G’s only test wkt.’

The Indians were on several occasions at the receiving end of Zaheer Abbas’ classy knocks that helped Pakistan dominate their neighbors. For his batting style, he had earned a nickname ‘Zaheer Ab bas’ from the Indian team.

It translates to ‘Zaheer that’s enough’. Legendary Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar who also played in the same era and in the Indian team of that time bowled over 63 overs in Test cricket in the 125 Tests that he represented his country. He could only register one wicket and that was of Abbas.

Abbas who is currently serving as the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) featured for Pakistan in 78 Tests and 62 ODIs. His international career spanned from 1969 to 1985. He was famously referred as the Asian Bradman.

As a batsman, he was known for his exquisite timing. The inning that got him more prominence was his 274-run knock against England at Edgbaston in the second Test of the series.
