The Nawab of Najafgarh Virender Sehwag has lost the race to the throne of the head coach of the Indian cricket team to Ravi Shastri. But the legendary Indian opening batsman has already forgotten about it and is making giant strides in his favourite field nowadays, which is the social media website Twitter. Today is 21st Birthday of Indian women team’s opener Smriti Mandhana.

The youngster has delivered some top drawer performances in the on going ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. Mandhana has been instrumental in India’s progress to the semis of the grandest event of Women’s cricket. As India is preparing for their crucial semi-final tie against the mighty Aussies who have the knack of winning World Cups at their will, the golden girl of Indian cricket is celebrating her birthday today.

Smriti steps into the 22nd year of her life today. In this young age, she has already donned the prestigious blue jersey 30 times in ODIs, 27 times in T20Is and twice in Tests. Her stats speak volumes about her success at the highest level. In 30 ODIs, she has scored 927 runs which include two centuries. She took Twitter by fire when she smashed two superb knocks in the on going tournament.

Not the female version of Ganguly!

Glamorous actresses like Disha Patani had to make way and surrender the ‘national crush’ tag to the left-handed batswoman. With every single stroke, Smriti proves that she is the synonym for sheer elegance and class. She is neither the female version of Sourav Ganguly, nor she resembles the youngster Rishab Pant. The southpaw has her unique style of play and has proved to be pretty effective.

Virender Sehwag took the opportunity to wish the stunning Indian opener on her birthday. He wrote- “Happy Birthday to a rising star @mandhana_smriti. May you continue the rise. Best wishes for the semis !”
