Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have a massive fan following across the world. While the Indian cricket team captain keeps scaling new records with the bat, his wife is a popular Bollywood actress having featured in a lot of blockbuster films. Ever since the power couple has got married, the fans are excited to know their whereabouts and even they keep the followers updated posting pictures on their social media handles.

However, since late night on Friday, Twitterati was stunned to see #VirushkaDivorce trending on Twitter and rather the curiosity among the fans made the trend even more famous. Looking at the hashtag, the Twitterverse got curious to know about the developments in the matter which led to more tweets about the trend.

As it turned out, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s divorce was trending due to an old article of February 2016 going viral. The report had stated that the couple was no more in a relationship. Unfortunately, social media users didn’t check the date stamp before sharing the article.

BJP MLA had also suggested Virat Kohli to divorce Anushka

A few days ago, controversy had erupted over Anushka Sharma produced web series Paatal Lok for causing a communal stir. Moreover, the BJP MLA Nandkishor Gurjar had also filed a complaint against her under the National Security Act and also suggested India skipper Virat Kohli to divorce her. Gurjar stated that Kohli plays for the country and this step from him will send a strong message across the nation.

“Desh se koi bada nahi hai. Virat Kohli desh ke liye khelte hai aur desh bhakt hai. Unhone Anushka ko turant talak dena chahiye,” he said. (The aforementioned quote roughly translates to – No one is bigger than the country. Virat Kohli is a patriotic person and plays for India. He should divorce Anushka soon. This will send a strong message).

Meanwhile, as far as the #VirushkaDivorce trend is concerned, it is definitely a hoax with an old article about the couple going article. As for Virat and Anushka, they are living happily together in Mumbai and have been doing their bit to spread awareness about the ongoing pandemic as well. And clearly, the trend also led to some hilarious memes.
