Glamorgan will tour Cheltenham to face Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast following their defeat to Somerset on the opening day of the tournament. Openers Jeremy Lawlor and David Lloyd added 88 for the opening wicket in only 8.5 overs. In the next ten overs, they managed to score only 57. However, Colin Ingram raced to 28-ball 50* as he hit six consecutive boundaries from being 18 off 22. Somerset chased down the target of 181 for the loss of two wickets and two overs to spare.
Gloucestershire, on the other hand, completed a thrilling win against Leicestershire in the County Championship which served them as a warm-up for the T20 Blast. Late efforts with the ball from the hosts set them a target of 48 runs from 8 overs. Gloucester were three down for 24 in 5.5 overs and needed 24 from only 13 deliveries. They got those 24 runs in the next eight deliveries to win the game by 6 wickets.
The South Group game in the Vitality T20 Blast 2019 will be played between Gloucestershire and Glamorgan at the College Ground in Cheltenham.

The College Ground in Cheltenham hosted six T20 Blast matches since the start of 2016 out of which two games got washed out. In the four other matches, the average first innings score read 186. Benny Howell didn’t have greatest of times with the bat during the 2018 T20 Blast where he scored only 137 runs from nine innings. However, with the ball, he ended up as his team’s 2nd highest wicket-taker despite missing three games. Howell took 17 wickets at an average of 19.29 across 11 matches he played in the last season.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
After their performances in the first game, Glamorgan’s top three Colin Ingram, David Lloyd and Jeremy Lawlor will be the most preferred multipliers. Michael Klinger might be a reputation pick but has been far from his prime. All-rounders Benny Howell, Ryan Higgins and Graham Wagg will have a key role to play in this game. Marchant de Lange and Andrew Tye could turn out to be X-factor for their respective teams with the ball.
