Vizag cricketer bats in the nets for 82 hours to enter Guinness Record

Nagaraju Budumuru, a Vizag-based cricketer, has aimed to enter the Guinness Record by spending an incredible 82 hours in the nets. Nagaraju aims to create six world records, including Guinness Record in the longest individual net session of 82 hours, started the session at A.S. Raja College Ground, MVP Colony in the city on Thursday. The 23-year-old batsman wants to break the previous record set by Pune-based cricketer, Virag Mare of 50 hours in December 2015.
Nagaraju started the batting at the nets at 9 am on Thursday and to complete the task for the record on March 13 at 5 pm. The cricketer has been facing the balls from bowlers as well as bowling machine. He bats continuously for five hours and then take a break of 20 minutes to reenergize with liquids.
“I want to see my name in the Guinness Record, Limca Book of Records, World Records Academy International, Wonder Book of Records International, Genius Book of Records and Asia Book of Records in the longest individual net session of 82 hours,” he said.
Friends of Nagaraju are confident that Nagaraju will create new records in the longest individual net session as he had practiced a lot before attempting the tough task. The representatives of few records will land in Vizag to observe Nagaraju’s attempt.
Virag Mare had registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records by playing at the Mahalaxmi Lawns in Karve Nagar in Pune. Mare, who had commenced his net session on December 22, faced 2,447 overs (14,682 balls) in exactly 50 hours, five minutes and 51 seconds. By doing so he broke the previous record of 48 hours set by English duo Dave Newman and Richard Wells.
