Vizag Test to have free entry on Day 1 of India England Test

The Andhra Cricket Association had some great news for the spectators of the India-England Test series. Vizag is set to host its first ever Test match. On the historic occasion, the ACA announced that there will be free entry on the day 1 of the historic Test. If things go well as planned by the board, the gates will be open on all days for the fans to witness the historic moment. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will unveil a plague to officially announce Vizag as a Test venue.

The news was disclosed in when the top officials of the ACA spoke to PTI ahead of the Test match. “This is the first Test in the history of Andhra Cricket. We want to see a full house but due to security apprehension, we cannot go ahead with the plan. Anyone can enter if it is free entry. We will see how it goes on day one and if possible we may do so in the remainder days,” the ACA secretary G Gangaraju mentioned.

The chairman of the Selection Committee, MSK Prasad, cited the occasion as the most memorable one in the history of ACA. “This is the happiest day since the Andhra Cricket Association was established in 1953” said MSK Prasad. He also added that a lot of effort has been put in by the officials and the players from the state.“The efforts of people right from CK Nayudu to Gangaraju today, all of them have worked hard. This journey has been fantastic. Tomorrow is D-Day for the ACA,” Prasad added.

For the iconic Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, this will be the second international match. The venue recently hosted the fifth and the final ODI between India and New Zealand. There were speculations about the pitch at the venue underperforming and misbehaving. All those will get answered when India takes on England in the second Test at Vizag.

Prasad also mentioned that the venue is good enough and competent to all other venues. He pointed out how close to 6 IPL matches were hosted at the venue at a short notice period by the board. “We hosted the IPL matches in 10 days notice when matches had to be shifted here because of the water crisis in Maharashtra,” Prasad remarked.

The recent demonetization has hit the ticket sales big time. However, close to 10000 people are expected to turn up for the match. The stadium has a capacity of 28000. With free entry being announced, expect a swarm of Indian fans flooding the ground at the venue. About 5000 school children have also been invited to witness the historic occasion.
